The Greater San Diego City Tennis Council proudly announces the completion of a four tennis court renovation project funded in partnership through the generous support of the City of National City and the San Diego District Tennis Association.
In conjunction with the ribbon-cutting ceremony, the San Diego District Tennis Association sponsored and conducted a Family Tennis Day event with a tennis clinic run by United States Professional Tennis Association affiliated tennis professionals and others, including George Espinosa, Geoff Griffin, Fernando Mendez and Lindsey Vosburgh. Tennis Council Board Members Geoff Griffin, Roz King and Tom O’Brien, who helped to spearhead this project, were all present at this memorable event.
Also present at the celebration were National City Mayor Ron Morrison, National City Council Member Albert Mendivil, El Toyon Elementary School Principal William Mellman and El Toyon Elementary School Teacher Yen Dang Hagler.
The courts were professionally renovated and resurfaced by Match Point Tennis Courts in two toned US Open blue and green colors. We thank El Toyon Tennis Club member, Delbert Temple, for volunteering his time to take professional photographs during the ribbon cutting event.
Ron Morrison, National City Mayor stated, “This is a fantastic example of what can happen when you bring together great organizations like the Greater San Diego City Tennis Council, the San Diego District Tennis Association with awesome community members and City staff like we have in National City.”
David Gill, President of the Greater San Diego City Tennis Council stated, “Our organization was pleased to partner with the City of National City at this beautiful community park, located close to
other recreational facilities. The community is fortunate to have such an amazing advocate in El Toyon Elementary School teacher, Yen Dang Hagler, whose passion and enthusiasm for tennis has enabled many youth to learn and enjoy this sport of a life time.”
