USTA Southern California Announces 2017 League Captain Of The Year Program

The USTA Southern California has announced a Section-wide Captain Appreciation and Recognition program.

For each league division (Adult 18 & Over, Mixed 40 & Over, etc.) a captain will be nominated by their Area League Coordinator for the Section Award.

The Adult Selection Committee will select a Section winner from the nominees for each division. Winning Captains will be notified by the Section League Coordinator and their Area League Coordinator.

Key attributes that the selection committee will consider when selecting Section award winners for each division include:

• Exhibits a high level of sportsmanship
• Displays leadership and organizational skills both on and off the court
• Mentors other captains and players
• Treats teammates with respect
• Takes responsibility for his or her actions

Each winning league division captain will be a finalist for Section Captain of the Year. A celebratory luncheon will be held in the first quarter of 2018. All finalist nominees will be invited to attend, along with the Area League Coordinators and the Adult Selection Committee. Each nominee will be individually recognized after which the 2017 Southern California Captain of the Year will be announced.

The winner will receive an award, a gift card and be recognized in the various USTA Southern California print and electronic media.
