USTA Pro Circuit comes to Long Beach this week


Jan Satral (CZE) is the top seed at Legends Long Beach this week.

After a fantastic week of tennis in Los Angeles, the USTA Mens Pro Circuit moves south to the coast for the $25k Legends Long Beach at El Dorado Tennis Center, beginning with Tuesday’s main draw opening round.

Top seed Jan Satral (CZE), a semifinalist in Los Angeles, headlines the event along with Japan’s Kaichi Uchida and JC Aragone of Yorba Linda, Calif. Karue Sell, the champion crowned in Los Angeles on Sunday, is seeded #12.

Notable Southern California athletes include Aragone, #8 Alexios Halebian (Hollywood), and UCLA Bruin teammates #14 Martin Redlicki and #18 Evan Zhu (Irvine).

Qualifiying rounds are scheduled to conclude on Monday, weather permitting. Former USC Trojan Deiton Baughman and current Trojan Logan Smith (Carlsbad), plus top national college prospect Brandon Nakashima (San Diego) are due on court today as eight matches will produce four more names in the main draw mix.

This week’s Long Beach event will also include a League Appreciation and Health/Fitness clinic for adults (Thursday, January 11) and a wheelchair tennis demonstration by Wounded Warriors on Military Appreciation Day (Friday, January 12). A high performance tennis clinic for high school players will be conducted on Saturday by members of USC Men’s Tennis, led by head coach Peter Smith.
