This spring, USTA Southern California launches our first FLEXit Tournament! It’s a tennis tournament on YOUR time. We’ll put the draws together, and you’ll contact your opponent to arrange the match time and location. You’ll have a week to do it – after work, before church, while the kids are in school – whenever you can agree on a time and place to play. If you make it to the finals, you’ll play in front of the FLEXit crowd on Sunday, May 19 at Braemar Country Club!
Here are the details:
WHO: 4.5 Men’s Singles, 4.5 Women’s Singles, 4.5 Men’s Doubles, 4.5 Women’s Doubles, 4.5 Mixed Doubles. Only 32 spots available in each division, so sign-up now! (For this first event we want to keep it small to make sure it’s GREAT! If it’s a hit, we’ll make sure to include other NTRP levels for the next one!)
WHAT: It’s a flexible tournament, where you contact your opponent and arrange the match time and place so it works for your schedule. First match losers will be granted entry into the back draw – so two matches are guaranteed! Matches will be played in best two out of three sets with regular scoring. USTA Rules apply.
WHEN: Play begins week of April 8, 2019. Players will have one week to coordinate and complete each round leading to the final. Players can set up their own matches according to their schedules, however it is strongly encouraged to complete matches ASAP within the week. The Finals of the Main Draw and the Consolation Draw will be played on Sunday, May 19 at Braemar Country Club.
WHERE: Matches can be played at any mutually agreed upon location between the players in or around the San Fernando Valley. However, the Final will be played on the marquee courts at Braemar Country Club on May 19th. Make sure to save the date regardless as we will be having a player party on the tennis deck while we watch the Finals for each division. This party is for tournament participants, friends, and family.
HOW MUCH: Cost is $30 flat.
SIGN ME UP: Players must enter online by April 4th, 2019. Here is your link to the tournament site!
