Denise Campbell Earns All-Inland Empire Singles Honors

By Karen Ronney

Denise Campbell has a passion for tennis that has propelled her to excel on and off the tennis court. The junior from John W. North High School has worked hard in school, sports and life. Her on-court efforts were recently recognized as she was named an All-Inland Empire Second-Team Singles selection for 2021-22. The SCTA Foundation is proud of Campbell, who was also a recipient of the Kramer Future Champions and Henry Talbert Summer Tennis Camp Scholarship Grants in 2021.

“The SCTA Foundation is very excited about this honor for Denise and it is well-deserved,” said Linda Milan, Executive Director of the SCTA Foundation.  “We recognize her desire to play, dedication to the sport of tennis and her strong work ethic. Being named to this elite group of high school competitors is outstanding.”

Campbell, a 5-foot, 10 ½ – inch lefthander, was also named to the All-Sunbelt League First-Team for singles and she was also the league’s Most Valuable Player.  She is a veteran tournament competitor and a three-year member of the high school varsity squad. She is described as a well-rounded player with a keen mind for strategy.

“Denise is so powerful yet versatile,” said her coach Sheila James, from the Inland Empire Tennis Academy. “She can hit drop shots, slice, topspin and drive the ball. Her craftsmanship is incredible and her tennis IQ is really high. ”

She is currently taking challenging classes and talking to coaches in search of her college decision. Congratulations, again, to Denise Campbell from the SCTA Foundation. We wish you continued success.
