Jack Kramer Club To Host California Championships


The Jack Kramer Club will be the place to be the week of Dec. 19 the first California Championships Presented by UTR Powered by Oracle will take place with local pros, college player and juniors vying for $30,000 in prize money.

Sam Querrey (below), Steve Johnson, Tommy Haas, Mardy Fish and Taylor Fritz are just a few of the big-time names that will battle it out on the court for the title of California Champion.

Here’s the full tune-in schedule, pending any weather/rain delays in sunny Los Angeles:

December 19: Main Draw,  Live Broadcast 3 PM PT & 6 PM PT
December 20: Quarterfinals, Live Broadcast 11 AM & 7 PM PT
December 21: Semifinals, Live Broadcast 1 PM PT & 3:30 PM PT
December 22: Finals, Live Broadcast 1:00 PM PT

The all new men’s California Championships Presented by UTR Powered by Oracle is the largest-ever open draw tournament in the United States. Players of all ages and levels, from beginner to junior, intermediate to collegiate, have the unprecedented opportunity to compete in the same tournament as today’s top ATP pros like Querrey, Johnson and Fritz.

“The California Championships is an innovative new style of tennis tournament which breaks down the barriers between professional, collegiate and community play,” said Mark Leschly, Universal Tennis Chairman & CEO. “We are excited to work with Facebook to provide a global platform to showcase this unique event that gives players of all levels the ability to compete in the same tournament as today’s top tennis talent.”

The California Championships is leveraging UTR’s innovative tournament and event management system, which eliminates the restrictive barriers between junior, college, adult and professional tennis players. Players will be seeded and enter into a staggered entry draw based on their UTR rating and will play to win through the draws for a shot at the pros.

There is $30,000 in total prize money with $12,000 going to the winner.
