USTA Southern California is seeking an Event Marketing Specialist to assist in coordinating, planning,
and executing tactical communication and marketing efforts around the organization’s Signature
Sanctioned Events (SSE).
Throughout the year, the USTA operates up to twenty SSEs, ranging from competitive local junior
tournaments to national events hosted in our region. Under the direction of the Assistant Director of
Communications, the Event Marketing Specialist will assist in the development and implementation of a
comprehensive plan to elevate these key tournaments and tennis events through event execution,
effective outreach, marketing, promotions, and on-site planning.
Responsibilities include coordination of a timely and effective calendar of marketing and promotional
demands for each event; development of collateral; working with various departments to determine
best practices for individual events; generation of event content including but not limited to
photography, media requests, and live coverage in coordination with the Digital Content Specialist.
The qualified candidate will possess at least two years of relevant experience in marketing, media,
and/or communications. The Specialist will have very strong organizational skills and the ability to
maintain multiple ongoing initiatives at once. A familiarity with event planning and execution, vendor
relations, and event production is desirable. The Specialist will work effectively within a team setting
and with guidance under minimal supervision, both within an office setting and at off-site facilities and
events as assigned.
This full time position includes standard weekday hours with regularly scheduled weekend assignments.
Some assignments will involve local travel throughout Southern California. A reliable vehicle is essential
(mileage is reimbursed). Knowledge and experience with tennis or other sports is a plus.
