Orlando: The New Home Of American Tennis

The USTA National Campus Officially Opened In Florida

The United States Tennis Association has officially opened the new National Campus, located in Lake Nona, Florida that has cost a reported US$60 million and will the home of American tennis.

USTA officials, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, and American tennis luminaries Chris Evert, James Blake and Davis Cup captain Jim Courier attended the official opening of the facility, built over 64 acres and featuring 100 tennis courts.

The public has actually been able to use the courts since Monday and thousands of players, ranging from weekend hackers to the leading stars of the US Davis and Fed Cup teams, are expected to benefit.

“The opening of the USTA National Campus is a monumental milestone for our sport,” said USTA Chairman of the Board and President Katrina Adams. “The new ‘Home of American Tennis’ will redefine how the USTA delivers on its mission and will provide a new vision for the future of tennis in the US.

“For players from every age and every ability, the USTA National Campus will raise the bar on how we deliver tennis with the goal of making our great sport more accessible to more people than ever before. This is nirvana, tennis heaven. This is truly the home of American tennis.”

The state of the art facility is the biggest and most innovative facility of its kind in the world with the very latest technology.

Florida resident Evert is highly impressed. “This USTA campus really leaves no stone unturned,” said the 18-time Grand Slam Singles champion and former world No.1. “The attention to detail has been tremendous and it really will enhance our sport at every level. This will be a game changer. I’ve never seen anything like it.

“I honestly think with this we are going to see numbers (increase) and not only in participation. But I think we are going to see numbers into young kids really wanting to become professionals.”
