Continuing the Section’s efforts to develop a diverse environment through community engagement and approach, USTA Southern California is pleased to announce Andy Schwich as the Manager of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
In this dynamic new role, Mr. Schwich will be a key member of the Community Tennis department, implementing an integrated strategy for outreach to multicultural organizations within and outside the tennis ecosystem, and working strategically with vital community tennis organizations across Southern California.
“It is our ongoing goal to cultivate relationships with diverse community organizations and their leaders to introduce tennis as a sport that provides growth and positive development,” said Trevor Kronemann, Executive Director at USTA Southern California. “Andy is a longtime advocate for community organizations, area schools, athletic organizations, and social outreach projects designed to better the community. We’re pleased to have him join our team, and use tennis as a means to break barriers and realize the truly inclusive power of tennis.”
Mr. Schwich previously served as a National Director for UP2US Sports, an organization aimed at engaging and training sports-based youth development coaches, practitioners, and organizations to address issues facing youth in under-resourced urban communities. He has previously worked with Special Olympics Southern California, the Safe Haven Shelter at Ocean Park Community shelter in Santa Monica, and the CLARE Foundation.
